Braidwater is delighted to announce the recipients of its community funding initiative linked to its new housing development, The Meadows, in Carryduff. The initiative invited charities and sporting organisations operating within a three-mile radius of the development to apply for funding to support projects that deliver meaningful and lasting benefits to local people.

Following careful consideration of the applications received, three local organisations have been selected for the positive impact they make within the community and their commitment to improving the lives of local residents through youth development, sport and environmental initiatives.

Scouting Ireland’s 29th Scout Group, Carryduff supports young people aged six to 18 by providing opportunities to develop confidence, leadership skills, resilience and community spirit through a wide range of outdoor and educational activities. The funding will support outdoor equipment, environmental projects and youth leadership training, helping to ensure young people from all backgrounds can continue to benefit from safe, inclusive and enriching experiences.

Carryduff Colts, one of the area’s largest community sports organisations, supports almost 1,000 players from childhood through to adulthood. The funding will help the club purchase new equipment and resources, supporting training sessions, matches and community events throughout the year. By investing in improved facilities and equipment, the club can continue to provide an inclusive environment that encourages participation, promotes healthy lifestyles and strengthens community connections.

The third recipient of funding is Carryduff Regeneration Forum.

Carryduff Regeneration Forum continues to make a significant contribution to the local area through its volunteer-led community garden, which enhances biodiversity, creates shared green space and provides fresh produce for residents and visitors. The funding will help sustain the project by supporting essential gardening materials and equipment, ensuring it continues to deliver environmental and social benefits for the community.

Darren Farnan, Marketing Manager at Braidwater, said:

“At Braidwater, we believe building new homes also means investing in the communities around them. We were delighted by the quality and diversity of applications received and would like to thank every organisation that took the time to apply. Each of these groups is making a meaningful difference in Carryduff by supporting young people, encouraging active lifestyles and creating stronger, more connected communities. We are proud to support their work and look forward to seeing the positive impact these projects continue to have.”

The community funding initiative forms part of Braidwater’s wider commitment to supporting the areas in which it builds, alongside the development of The Meadows, a new neighbourhood of 112 highly energy-efficient three, four and five-bedroom homes in Carryduff.
