Braidwater Homes has just been named winner of the prestigious 2021 Construction Employers Federation (CEF) Private Housing Award for the company’s work on Birch Hill in Derry/Londonderry, a superb development of 211 homes.

Accepting the CEF Private Housing Award on behalf of Braidwater are (L-r): Patrick McGinnis (Chairman – Braidwater Group) and Brian O’Kane (Site Manager).

Setup to showcase the best of the house building industry in Northern Ireland, the CEF Construction Excellence Awards are the most instantly recognised, respected and hotly contested awards on offer.

Indeed, the award follows on from the success achieved by the Birch Hill development during 2018 to 2020 when it won NHBC Quality awards three years in a row as well as the coveted overall NHBC Regional award in 2019.

One of the panel of judges from the CEF Awards highlighted why Braidwater was the worthy recipient of the award:

‘’This superb development of energy-efficient detached and semi-detached homes was not without its challenges, and the judges were particularly impressed with how Braidwater Homes imaginatively handled complex issues such as the steeply sloping nature of the site, praising the company on their high-quality design, landscaping and provision of open space, which they said, collectively contributes to the creation of an overall distinctive sense of place at this site.

‘’The aim of the competition was to promote excellence and to give recognition to those companies who are achieving the highest standards of construction, and Braidwater excelled in this area.’’

Delighted with those sentiments, Ryan Boyle, Chief Operating Officer for Braidwater, added how important it was for the staff that worked on Birch Hill as well as the company:

‘’Site foreman Brian O’Kane and the team have excelled in creating homes of outstanding quality at Birch Hill, ensuring a top-class development with high-end finishing and brilliant customer service.

‘’On behalf of Brian, he is as always, keen to acknowledge the efforts of the onsite and office teams, suppliers, sub-contractors and the selling agent, for their support, hard work and dedication.

‘’The Braidwater management team would also like to publicly acknowledge the onsite team of Brian, Sean McGurk and staff, as well as the head office team for their consistent high standards of work.

Ryan concluded by saying: “The last handover in Birch Hill took place at the end of summer 2021 and with 211 homes now fully occupied, the team is working on ensuring the development is completed to the highest standards.’’
