For Steven and Megan Smith, the past seven weeks have been some of the most memorable and busiest of their lives.

In the space of less than two months, they welcomed their second daughter, Sally, into the world, celebrated Steven’s 30th birthday, marked Sophia’s fourth birthday, and moved into their beautiful new home at Beech Hill View.

It’s been a whirlwind of milestones, but one that has left the young family feeling incredibly grateful.

Both Steven and Megan are originally from the Cityside, where their story first began as school sweethearts at St. Joseph’s. Like many young couples, they moved away to Belfast to pursue further education and build their careers. Steven now works within the property sector, while Megan supports people with learning disabilities.

After spending seven years in Belfast, the couple felt drawn back home and soon found themselves ready to settle down in their forever home

Their introduction to Beech Hill View came through friends already living in the development. While attending a christening celebration one day, they found themselves admiring the homes and the community atmosphere.

It wasn’t long before they knew this was where they wanted to raise their family.

For Megan, one feature stood out immediately.

“The kitchen was the first thing I fell in love with. The island, the eye-level oven and the amount of space made it feel like the perfect family home.”

As first-time homeowners, the appeal of a turnkey property was key. Having rented for years and moved home six times, they were excited by the opportunity to create a home that was entirely their own.

The chance to personalise finishes throughout the property was a particular highlight, allowing them to put their own stamp on every room while avoiding the stress and expense that often comes with older properties.

The buying process itself proved very straightforward.

Steven and Megan describe Conaire at CPS as “absolutely brilliant,” helping guide them through every stage with ease, while site manager Kevin has remained available whenever support has been needed.

When the day finally arrived to collect their keys, the reality of homeownership didn’t quite sink in immediately.

“We genuinely felt like we had imposter syndrome. It felt more like we were collecting keys to another rental property. It took a family member reminding us that we actually owned the house before it really hit us. Once it did, we were absolutely buzzing.”

Their first few weeks in the home have been filled with moments of joy and laughter. Megan even found herself walking downstairs to use the bathroom on the first morning before suddenly remembering she now had an ensuite in the master bedroom.

Today, the difference in family life is remarkable. Where once there was limited space and uncertainty, there is now room to grow, a garden for the children to enjoy, and the comfort of knowing they are building memories in a home that belongs to them.

The friendly neighbours and peaceful surroundings have only added to their happiness, helping them settle into what already feels like a thriving community.

After six previous moves, Steven and Megan are confident this seventh chapter will be their last. Together with Sophia and baby Sally, they have finally found the forever home they always dreamed of.
